We have had several students down with the flu including me. :(

Happy to be back.

This morning several students wrote their second Caribou Math contest. Looking forward to the results on Friday. The rest of the students worked on problem solving.

In Science, we made a pH indicator using red cabbage. This indicator will be used in a series of tests to be conducted on Friday.

This afternoon, Mrs. Demetriou continued to prepare the students for the upcoming Christmas concert.  Afterwards, Mrs. Ruby continued the study of New France with assignments leading up to their summative.

Pudding Yuuup!

In Mathematics this morning we did a class team building activity that involved carefully listening to instructions, mental math and PUDDING! I wanted to give the students positive reinforcement for carefully listening to directions, respecting classmates, etc. If they could not the pudding was lost. The great news is no one lost the pudding. :)

In Language, the students continued research for International Mindedness Day.

This afternoon Mrs. Demetriou continued to prepare the students for the Christmas concert and Mrs. Ruby taught the History component of Individuals and Society. Be sure to check your child's agenda for homework assignments.

After recess, we began preparations for our presentation for International Mindedness Day on November 24th. Our focus this year is on countries that have hosted the Winter Olympics.
This afternoon, we continued our new unit in Science: Mixtures and Solutions.
Please check your child`s agenda for the assigned work.

Happy Monday

This morning the grade 7-8 students were given an opportunity to "show what they know" for the upcoming fractions unit. I worked with my four grade nine students going over their recent test.
After French with Madame Villeneuve, the students worked on their final drafts for the narrative stories. I am looking forward to reading them all.
In the afternoon Mrs. Demetriou continued to prepare for the Christmas Concert. Please encourage your child to practice at home.
Mrs. Ruby taught History last period. She assigned a special essay to all students regarding respect and responsibility. This is something that I endorse.

Enjoy the pics of the students playing scattergories with their reading buddies.

This morning after assembly we began our day in Math discussing Fractions. Students were given the opportunity to "show what they know" about Fractions before we start the unit next week.
After French with Madame Villeneuve, students worked on editing their narratives. I am looking forward to reading the final drafts.
This afternoon, Mrs. Demetriou continued to work on preparing her students for the Christmas concert. Please encourage your child to practice at home.
Mrs. Ruby taught History last period.
She assigned the students a "special" essay regarding classroom behaviour and expectations. This essay is something that I endorse. All students, particularly those in grade 7-8, need to consistently show respect for all of their teachers and be positively engaged in all lessons.
